U.S. Employers Reinforce Commitment to U.S. Education and Workforce Development at White House Meeting
During a White House meeting this week, U.S. employers and business groups – including Compete America members Microsoft, Intel, Accenture, Business Roundtable and the U.S. Chamber of Commerce – met with President Obama to discuss how strong industry-led partnerships can continue to transform the American education system and ensure that the United States has a competitive workforce.
As President Obama said:
“A world-class education is the single most important factor in determining not just whether our kids can compete for the best jobs but whether America can outcompete countries around the world. America's business leaders understand that when it comes to education, we need to up our game. That's why were working together to put an outstanding education within reach for every child.”
To compete in a global economy, we must have a 21st century workforce. That’s why Compete America is committed to growing the American workforce, which includes improving U.S. science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) education and encouraging more young Americans to choose careers in those fields.
Compete America has also issued “Education and Workforce Principles” that further show our commitment to a world-class U.S. workforce.
To lead the world’s innovation economy, America must have the best-trained and best-educated workforce!
